In this beginner to intermediate class, students will bring a found object and use their creativity to combine it with ceramic sculpture, transforming the piece into a work of art. Presented by Eastbank Artists in collaboration with instructor: Raelyn Larson.
Workshop will include working in three sessions on Saturdays, January 14, 21 and 28 at noon-4 PM. Students can have additional open studio time on Tuesday nights at 5-7 PM. Cost: $130 general public/$125 Pump House members. Register online http://www.thepumphouse.org/store/ceramic-workshop-re-inventions/
or call 608-785-1434. Class is at the Pump House Regional Arts Center, 119 King Street, La Crosse, WI 54601. Bring a notebook or sketchpad, pen or pencil, a “found” object (no bigger than one square foot), and an original idea.
Raelyn Larson, La Crosse native, has spent the last two decades in Europe, playing with clay, found objects, paper, lighting and plants. Back to the Coulee Region, she is presenting a workshop in collaboration with the
Eastbank Artists this winter.
She will share her experience and skills to encourage each artist to develop their own style and make a sculpture of their own. Students will hand build clay objects, glaze, fire and combine with their found objects to take home finished sculpture at the end of the session. We will be using lightly grogged earthenware with either slip painting, ready made glazes or both.
Do you have an object in mind? What to do with it? Think/plan from A to Z.
Bring it and come play with clay and a variety of mixed media (lights, LEDs, paint, metal... who knows?)
